Culinary Guild Activities - Aside from our regular activities, starting at JuneFaire 2003 we have been very pleased to present a demonstration of medieval cookery. We refined our demo for 2004 and again for September Crown that same year. Here are some pictures from the demos-
Many of the recipes used in the demonstrations are available at JuneFaire Recipes.

This is a Pottage of Cabbages from the Forme of Cury that turned out quite tasty, Crown 2004
We are greatly indebted to Mistress Gwen the Potter for use of her period replica pottery in our demos. The pipkin above and the cooking pot at left are hers as well as the colander and pitchers below. |

We were especially pleased with our roast chicken experiment at September Crown 2004. The bird was roasted on a spit over a charcoal fire, stuffed with a whole apple and herbs seen here. The flesh was moist and juicy and we are looking to expand our roasting experiment in the future.
